Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008

This was a huge piece of legislation, signed into law by President George W. Bush on July 30, 2008. Among other things, the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 established the Federal Housing Finance Agency, put an end to seller-paid down payment assistance ("DPA") programs such as Nehemiah and Neighborhood Gold and created the Hope for Homeowners program.
